Hilda Mundo-Lopez named Cambridge Who’s Who Professional of the Year in Bilingual Education
NEW YORK, February 23, 2007– Hilda Mundo-Lopez, an instructor at CUNY Brooklyn College and CUNY Fashion Institute of Technology has been named Cambridge Who’s Who Professional of the Year in bilingual education. While inclusion in Cambridge Who’s Who Registry is an honor, only two male and two female members in each discipline are named the Cambridge Who’s Who Executive/Professional of the Year. The Cambridge Who’s Who selection committee hand picks these special Who’s Who honorees based on accomplishments, academic achievement, leadership and service.
Mundo-Lopez has an impressive background in bilingual education. As an instructor of City University of New York at Brooklyn College and FIT, she is responsible for teaching English as a second language as well as Hispanic, Latino, and Latin American literature and culture to students. City University of New York at Brooklyn College is a member unit of the City University of New York, the nation's leading public urban university. FIT is a public instituton of higher learning that offers instruction in the areas of fashion, design, fine arts, packaging, computer animation, technology, marketing, advertising, merchandising, production, and more.
Mundo-Lopez received a bachelor of arts from University of Puerto Rico at Rio Piedras, a master of arts from SUNY Stony Brook and a master of philosophy from New York University. She is a member of Modern Language Association, American Comparative Literature Association, Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages, and Puerto Rican Studies Association. Mundo-Lopez wrirte book reviews and helped compile the research for the book, Latinos in English: A Selected Bibliography of Latino Fiction Writers of the United States.
